The Maheshwari household was at war.
The enemy? Samiksha.
The mission? To wake her up.
"Samiksha, uth jaa! You'll be late for school!" her mother yelled, pulling her blanket away.
Samiksha groaned, rolling over and burying her face into her pillow. "Bas paanch minute..."
Avya, decided to take matters into her own hands. She climbed onto the bed and started jumping. "Didi, uthoooo! School jaana hai!"(avya calls her didi in a sarcastic wayyy)
"School jaake kya ukhadna hai," Samiksha mumbled, tightening her grip on the pillow.
Avya giggled and dramatically sighed. "Abeer toh wahin hoga..."
That was it.
Samiksha sat up so fast that Avya almost fell off the bed. She rubbed her eyes, stretched, and yawned, suddenly not so against the idea of school.
"Jaldi kar ab!" her mother scolded.
Samiksha grinned to herself as she rushed to get ready. Who cared about school? Abeer would be there.
While Samiksha was having her main character moment at home, Abeer was already up, sitting at his study table, books open in front of him.
Except... he wasn't studying.
His eyes were fixed on a crumpled note in his hands.
Abeer exhaled, running his fingers over the words.
She liked him.
She really, really liked him.
A small genuine smile played on his lips as he reread the note for what must've been the hundredth time.
"Samiksha..." he murmured, his heart doing that stupid little flip again.
He needed to talk to her today.
---
Samiksha reached school in record time.
She wasn't even sure if she was walking to class-her feet had taken her somewhere on autopilot. And before she knew it, she was standing outside his classroom, peeking inside like a total creep.
There he was, laughing with his friends, looking ridiculously handsome for no reason.
She sighed dreamily. Perfect human being. As she turned to go from there
"Samiksha."
She froze.
That voice.
Oh no.
She turned around slowly.
Abeer stood right behind her, arms crossed, smirking. "Kisko dhoond rahi ho?"
I was looking for you.
She obviously couldn't say that. So instead, she blurted, "W-who? N-no one. Actually, samaan yaha gir gaya tha-"
Abeer raised a brow. "Kaisa samaan? Aur meri class ke bahar hi kyu gira?"
Her brain short-circuited. "Uh... actually jo samaan hum itne time se paana chahte hai... but wo Hume toh mil hi nhi raha."
Abeer's smirk faltered. His cheeks tinged pink as he realized-she was talking about him.
Before the tension could get any worse, she panicked. "Thik h bye malo chali-I mean chalo Mali-I mean sorry chalo me chali."
She turned and practically sprinted away.
Abeer chuckled. "Bohot jaldi milega, Samiksha."
She stopped mid-step, stunned.
Did he just-?
Before she could turn around, he was gone.
God help me.
---
Aarohi and Samiksha sat on the last bench, books open but absolutely no studying happening.
"So, are we stressed about boards?" Aarohi asked.
Samiksha snorted. "We? No, darling. You are stressed about boards. I am waiting for Abeer's wedding invitation."
Aarohi rolled her eyes. "You are unhinged."
"Thank you."
Their conversation derailed into absolute nonsense.
Aarohi: "You know, I was scrolling Pinterest and saw these aesthetic picnic date pictures. I want one."
Samiksha: "Same! But who will take us?"
Aarohi: "Alex Volkov and for you i would say Abeer"
Samiksha: "LMAO. Abeer taking me on a picnic date? In my dreams."
Aarohi: "Manifest, girl."
Samiksha: "Manifest toh tab bhi kiya tha ki boards cancel ho jaye, kya hua?"
Aarohi: "...Pain."
They paused, staring at their books.
Then-
Aarohi: "Chocolate."
Samiksha: "Clouds."
Aarohi: "Teachers are evil."
Samiksha: "True. Also, why do boys smell so nice?"
Aarohi: "Right?! And why do they all have the same black hoodie?"
Samiksha: "It's like a uniform."
Aarohi: "Ekansh has one too."
Samiksha: "Abeer lives in his."
Aarohi: "Red flag."
Samiksha: "Unfortunately, my favorite color."
They both sighed. What else could happen when two bestfriends are talking with eachother. Ofcourse the topics will change like bullet train.
School was weird.
---
During lunch, Samiksha wandered the corridors, hoping to catch a glimpse of Abeer.
There he was-talking to people, surrounded by friends, flashing that stupid perfect smile.
He was famous.
And she was... just Samiksha.
Disheartened, she walked away.
Later, in class, she was lost in thought when-
"Excuse me, sir," Abeer's voice interrupted the lesson.
She looked up, surprised to see him at the door.
"Samiksha ki copy mere paas reh gayi thi," he said, placing a notebook on her desk.
Before she could say anything, he was gone.
Confused, she opened the notebook.
A folded note fell out.
Did you want to talk about something? I saw you in the lunch period.
By the way, I've written something. Batao kaisa hai.
She unfolded the rest of the page and gasped.
It was a poem.
About her.
---
"Uske lafzon mein ek ajeeb sa jaadu hai,
Jaise kahin door koi geet baj raha ho.
Muskurati hai toh lagta hai, chaand zameen pe utar aaya ho,
Aur woh hoti hai toh saari duniya thodi aur khoobsurat lagti hai."
---
She clutched the page, her heart pounding.
She had written something just like this.
Which meant-
Her note.
The one she lost at the auditorium.
He had read it.
Oh. My. God.
---
On the same in evening as the sunwas about to dawn
, Vidyut stared at his phone for way too long before finally typing-
Vidyut: Hey.
Aarohi: ...Hey?
Vidyut: How are you?
Aarohi: Fine. You?
Vidyut: Alive, unfortunately.
Aarohi: Lame.π
Vidyut: Excuse me, I'm adorable.π₯°
Aarohi: Debatable.π
Vidyut: Admit it. You think I'm cute.π
Aarohi: I think you're a headache.ππ€π»
Vidyut: And yet, here we are, texting.ππ
Aarohi stared at the screen, flustered.
She hated him.
And yet... she was smiling.
---
"Give me the chocolate!" Aarohi screamed.
"Get your own!" Abeer shot back.
"I bought it!"
Abeer shrugged. "Finders keepers."
Aarohi tackled him.
They rolled on the floor like maniacs, yelling insults.
"Idiot."
"Goblin."
"Loser."
"Mom's least favorite child."
Finally, their mother walked in.
"Seriously? You two are fighting over chocolate?!"
They looked at her.
Then at each other.
Then continued fighting.
Sibling love.
"I BOUGHT IT FIRST!" Aarohi screeched, clutching the chocolate close to her chest.
Abeer scoffed. "With whose money? Oh, right-MOM'S! That makes it a family asset, and as the eldest, I have more claim over it!"
Aarohi narrowed her eyes. "Abeer, if you even touch it, I swear I will tell mom that you used my shampoo again and made it half empty."
Abeer gasped dramatically. "That's a false accusation! I used it twice-maximum three times!"
"Then why does it smell like cherries in your hair?" Aarohi crossed her arms, victorious.
Abeer quickly tried to change the topic. "The real problem here is that you're hoarding chocolate while innocent, hardworking people like me are suffering!"
"Innocent and hardworking? Abeer, the only thing you work hard at is flirting!"
"EXCUSE ME?! That is a skill-not just anyone can do it as effortlessly as I can!"
Aarohi rolled her eyes. "Oh, hapsi manushya, just take half and leave me alone!"
"Half?" Abeer looked horrified. "Half is an insult! I deserve better!"
And just like that, the chocolate war continued, with no real winner, except their mother-who eventually took the chocolate and ate it herself, telling them both to shut up.

...
While the school day was coming to an end, in another part of the city, Avya sat at her desk, twirling a pen between her fingers, a soft smile playing on her lips. It had become a ritual now-every morning, without fail, a fresh bouquet of flowers would be placed on her desk, accompanied by a beautifully handwritten note.
She didn't need to guess who it was from.
Ekansh.
The guy who had unknowingly sneaked into her heart with his awkward charm, the one who had kissed her impulsively and then respected her space when she needed it. He was unlike anyone she had ever known.
She picked up today's note and read it:
"I don't know if flowers are enough to tell you how much I enjoy knowing you, but until I find something better, this is my way of saying-I'm thinking about you."
A small giggle escaped her lips as she plucked a single rose from the bouquet, twirling it in her fingers. She stood up, walking across the hallway where Ekansh was waiting near his desk, pretending to scroll through his phone.
She held out the rose to him.
"This is my way of saying-I think about you too," she said with a teasing smile.
Ekansh looked at the flower, then at her, then back at the flower. His ears turned a light shade of red, and for a moment, he was speechless.
"You're messing with me, aren't you?" he finally muttered, taking the rose.
Avya shrugged, her eyes glimmering with mischief. "What do you think?"
Ekansh smirked, stepping a little closer, lowering his voice. "I think... I'd really like to kiss you again."
Avya's breath hitched, but she covered it up with a playful glare. "Too bad. You promised not to touch me unless I ask for it."
Ekansh groaned, dramatically placing a hand over his heart. "I'm suffering, Avya. Do you even care about my pain?"
She laughed, shaking her head. "Nope."
And with that, she turned around and walked away, leaving him standing there, watching her go, shaking his head with a smitten grin on his face.
